ABSTRACT Glimskär, A. 2004. NILS beskriver landskapet. Intryck från fältutbildningen i Skara. [NILS – a new Swedish environmental monitoring programme.] – Svensk Bot. Tidskr. 98: 328–330. Uppsala. ISSN 0039-646X. NILS (National Inventory of Landscapes in Sweden) is a new programme for environmental monitoring that focuses on landscape changes in relation to biodiversity. Area, distribution, vegetation structure and land use of different biotopes will be followed through time, by field work and aerial photo interpretation. With 5-yr intervals, about 200 species will be registered in a large number of regularly distributed 0.25-m2 sample plots. Also collected are data on linear features (e.g., fences, road verges, forest edges, shores), plant cover, soil properties, and land use. |
